Harper Lee is well known author that wrote the novel To Kill A Mockingbird and help co- write the movie To Kill A Mockingbird. The book was first read in our class and now we are currently watching the movie. While watching the movie I have noticed many similarities and differences among the two story lines. From what we had watched so far it interesting to see the characters and setting and not have to picture them in your mind as you are reading. In class today we learned that Harper Lee helped write the movie script and was always helping the actors prepare for a scene. This I think helped the actors get ready better for there scene and made them act more like there characters. For example, Atticus was exactly how I pictured his character to be. Atticus is a very sophisticated character and deeply understands the meaning from right and wrong. His character defiantly portrays the way he is in the book to the movie.
The movie and novel were both very well crafted. Between the novel and movie had many similarities. One of the major similarities was the box. This box contained all of the things Jem had found in a whole by the Radley's house. They found little nicknacks, such as a pin that you are able to recieve from a spelling bee and two dolls that look similar to Jem and Scout. The characters as well were played the same way as they were in the novel. Both storylines encountered the same issues. These issues include when the Tom Robinson Trial, Scout, Jem, and Dill playing with a tire and ending up in the Radley's front yard, Jem losing his pants, and the Finches facing difficult problems with the fact that they are defending a black man. The Tom Robinson Trail was a situation in both stories. Tom Robinson was black man put on trail for something he did not do. Scout, Jem, and Dill playing in the tire and Scout being pushed in it. Scout then lands in the front yard of the Radley's house with Jem and Dill reacting the same way. The Finches are not treated very well because Atticus is defending a black man.
In the novel and movie of To Kill a Mockingbird they have multiple differences. To Kill A Mockingbird was developed into two different ways one in a novel and the other in a movie. The movie only contains the most important parts of the novel and some of the parts of the book happen earlier then they did in the book. The book took our class a much longer to read which was about two months while the movie took us two class periods. When the trail is going on Aunt Alexandra does not come to stay with while the trial is going on.
